When Money Matters
It is no mythexotics are expensive to purchase, and aren't cheap to maintain. The Extreme Car Share program makes it possible to satisfy such an indulgence at a cost which is reasonable, and virtually eliminates the downside.
Many owners of exotic and highline autos don't get as much use from
the vehicle as one might expect.
Research of Mileage April '06 (Vehicle Use)
A sample of ten '03 Ferraris (360 Modena) in the marketplace
(auction listings on Ebay motors) showed odometer readings with
a low mileage of 2,898 and a high mileage of 10,929, averaging out
to 177 miles per month.
A sample of ten '03 Lamborghini Murcielagos in the marketplace
(listed for sale at DupontRegistry.com) showed odometer readings
with a low mileage of 800 and a high mileage of 27,000, averaging
out to 186 miles per month.
Based on the above, these beauties are only being driven 177
to 186 miles a month.
We are not suggesting individuals who purchase these rare machines
aren't enjoying them. It seems they aren't enjoying them enough.
It is hard for us to believe that any person who purchases a membership
in Extreme Car Share won't get 150 plus miles behind the wheel during
their monthly time with the vehicle (hmmm...where to go?).
The point we are trying to make is that the average owner's cost of
owning ONE exotic, due to its very limited use the low mileage
on average and the costs associated with 100% ownershipis significantly
higher than the relative costs of the Extreme Car Share program,
without even considering that each membership you buy represents an
interest in a collection (more
than one extreme car). The major difference is that the time is scheduled
in advance.
Why go through all the expense of owning one car outright, yet drive
it so little? Not to mention monies tied up in a vehicle that continually
depreciates. When you consider the average mileage driven noted
above, it is easy to see why Extreme Car Share is much more financially
appealing.
Run the numbersit's easy to see that the Extreme
Car Share program just makes sense.
